Today, during their GamesCom press conference, Sony has announced that the PS3 will be getting a worldwide price cut of $50. The new prices would make the 320GB and 160GB consoles $300 and $250 respectively. Best part about this news is that it takes effect immediately. So any of you thinking about getting one after the new price is out, there’s no waiting necessary. You can tell that Sony wants to get the jump on their competition before the holiday season begins. Even though it’s been cut down by $50, it puts the 160GB system in the same boat as the lower 4GB Xbox 360 bundle which price starts at $200 but can jump to $300 if bundled with the Kinect.
We’ll see how it goes. I think the price cut makes it an even better choice than it already was before.
[Update] Joystiq has reported that Sony has presented another deal. According to the official PlayStaion Blog, a new Infamous 2 PS3 bundle is available that includes the game and the 320 GB PS3 for $300. Now that’s a deal.
