Battlefield 3 “Back To Karkand” Screenshots

Nothing too new so far today in the world of video games. Got a lot of titles coming in the next couple weeks coupled along with some anticipated news and trailers for upcoming major franchises. So as we wait for games like Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (which I’ll be getting and talking about a lot) and debut trailers for huge franchises like the one for Grand Theft Auto V, I will turn to the only news worth mentioning at this moment, Battlefield 3.

Now as you all should know, the limited edition version of the game comes with a code for the upcoming expansion pack “Back To Karkland” to get the pack for free. All we knew about this pack is that it included new multiplayer maps and some of the older ones from previous Battlefields redone with the new Frostbite 2 engine. Now thanks to IGN, we have our first glimpse of this expansion pack in action. So far the screenshots seem to only show one map but I love the fact that it is going to take place somewhere in a middle eastern city, a more realistic and diverse kind of map. It should add a little more diversity since there is only one other map currently that takes place in a city environment. Check out the screenshots below!

Battlefield 3 Update

So as you all know, I have been playing Battlefield 3 since it’s midnight release on the 24th/25th. I came into it skeptical and was won over by some gameplay footage I was able to see on the Xbox 360. Now the last FPS multiplayer shooter that I had purchased was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 a couple years ago, so it had been a while since I have found a game that could recapture my love for it. Well Battlefield 3 has done it. There is something about the sense of scale in this game and the complete carnage that can be created that leads me to believe it wont be beat this year by another FPS. (Yes, including CoD: Modern Warfare 3) I mean the most I heard coming into playing this game was that the campaign lacked but really, its mostly just a way to show off graphics and a warm up (training mode) for the multiplayer. For the most part thats what all the Call of Duty campaigns have been like as well, instead of Black Ops, I actually enjoyed that one quite a bit.

Battlefield’s formula isn’t necessarily new at all, it was used in the Battlefield: Bad Company series as well as the former Battlefield games, but it sure is perfected this time around. The technology of Frostbite 2 allows EA and DICE to create the closest thing to an actual war that hasn’t been seen in a multiplayer game, and to top it off, I think they have also made the deepest FPS multiplayer game as well. The leveling and rewarding for each gun works so well and is a bit more difficult to achieve as opposed to the CoD:MW series. It takes longer for you to earn enough experience for each gun to get awarded an add-on, which makes you feel like you worked harder for it and feel really rewarded. You add this to the classes that allow you to play how you want to play and the vehicles that add a whole other dimension to the game, allowing people who have trouble with head to head kills to find there own niche.

The best way to sum up this game and the difference between it and CoD was said by a young soldier at the midnight release. ” The realism really draws me into this beyond just the multiplayer. Battlefield captures a more realistic approach while Call of Duty is just an exaggerated look, sort of like a Michael Bay movie.” After playing the game non-stop for the last couple days, I couldn’t agree more. I would recommend you buy a copy.

Metal Gear HD Release Date Corrected

Where is Metal Gear Solid!?!?

There was a source saying that the Metal Gear HD collection was going to be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 3, 2012, but Konami has announced today that the release date was only for Europe.

The Collection will still be released in North America on November 8th, 2011. It will include Metal Gear Solids 2, 3 and Peace Walker, as well as Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 (The SNES and NES Origins). I still find it hard to believe that Metal Gear Solid isn’t on there. I mean it’s easily my favorite game ever and the best in the series.

If you buy the limited Ultimate HD Collection that hasn’t yet been confirmed for the United States and will only be available for the PS3, you’ll also get a code to download the original MGS from PSN pluse Metal Gear Solid 4.

At least we don’t have to wait for next year to play most of the Metal Gear Series in crystal clear HD.

Multiple Characters In Grand Theft Auto 5??

So with the announcement of the new Grand Theft Auto comes new rumors with it. There have been sources that have said that the newest installment of this popular franchise will have multiple playable characters throughout the game. There is also another rumor saying that the game will be set in a fictional Los Angeles setting. I’m hoping the former is not true, as I said in my last blog, I didn’t want another San Andreas but you cant always believe the rumors.

As for the multiple characters, it is a first for the series but it could be a nice added change, just hope that they can still personalize the characters and not overwhelm themselves to the point that we don’t connect with them. I was a big fan of Nico Bellick and really got into his own story, would hate to see the best character in the Grand Theft Auto series be followed with multiple half assed ones.

Anyways, on November 2nd a lot of these rumors and questions will be answered. Just have to wait and keep on guessing til then, its exciting nonetheless.

And I Present Upon You…. Grand Theft Auto 5!!!

Rockstar Games has officially announced the long awaited next chapter to the Grand Theft Auto series. On their website, there is a GTA 5 Logo with a big green capital V for five that resembles a dollar bill. There has been speculation if the color is a reference to maybe Vegas on the boards, though I’m hoping not. I don’t think Vegas will be a bad location, its just that they hit upon that with GTA: San Andreas and I’m hoping for a change in location. Some people have been also thinking London and Japan as well which I am totally down for. There are absolutely no details yet, but we will all know a lot more I’m sure when the first trailer debuts next Wednesday, the 2nd of November.

We will have much more on this announcement and our opinions of the trailer in the coming weeks!

Battlefield 3……. You Got Me.

The game sure looks pretty.

I wasn’t planning on getting into this whole first-person shooter war fiasco this year, was planning on laying low and playing my Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, but I guess I couldn’t stay away. I have decided to pick up a copy of Battlefield 3 for my Xbox 360 tonight at midnight since I apparently had it pre-ordered already anyway.  I watched some live mulitplayer streaming today and was captivated on how much fun the mulitplayer looked and how it presented itself. I will have more on the game this week as well as Batman: Arkham City, another great game I have been playing and recently finished. Til then, here is a great look at the single player gameplay that was on Jimmy Fallon not to long ago to get your ready for midnight tonight!

Harrison Ford Sits Down to Play New Uncharted

Wow. I know Baron should be pleased with this one, along with all you other crazy fans of Dr. Jones. Apparently, this has been floating around the interwebs for a few days already, but we didn’t know about it… until now. I don’t know how they got him to do it, but Harrison Ford (Indiana friggin’ Jones himself!!) actually played the new chapter to the Uncharted series, Uncharted: Drake’s Deception. The man who inspired the character, Nathan Drake, is sitting down and playing the game while a group of guys with cameras film the whole thing. I enjoyed all the commentary that he gave while playing. It’s cool to see someone get into a game like that and is amazed by everything from the graphics to the story and especially the action. There are Japanese subtitles since it is being filmed for some kind of Japanese promotion I guess. Take a look below.

NBA 2K12 DLC Adding Whole New Legends Mode!

My favorite and one of the highest rated sports games this year is about to get a lot sweeter. Remember the old Micheal Jordan Vs. Larry Bird one on one arcade games and how awesome they were? Well 2K is about to throw a new feature into NBA 2K12 called NBA 2K12: Legends Showcase, and you will be able to do just that. The new DLC will include this brand new mode allowing you to play 1 on 1, 2 on 2, or 3 on 3 with any of the greatest players the NBA has to offer!

Want to play MJ and Bird Vs. Lebron and Kobe? Of course you do. Better yet the game will have a cell shaded coat of paint to give it a stylized look and feel. It was awesome to do it on a team scale, but now you’ve got a high def, super realistic version of Jordan vs Bird. Read full post »

Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Gameplay

Check out this new Battlefield 3 trailer showing off the games many multiplayer maps, its vehicular combat, and its extremely hectic and fast paced gameplay. This wasn’t what the beta was like at all but if the game ends up like this trailer, you can bet your ass you will see me in there. EA can really pack a punch with its trailers, check it out below!

Harold and Kumar Are Back!!!

Harold and Kumar are back at it and this time its raunchier, crazier, and in 3D! Always been a fan of this series though it did degrade a bit with the sequel, lets hope this one really impresses, been awhile since we had a dirty rated R Christmas comedy! Check out the red band trailer below!

NFL Blitz Is Back!!!

EA Sports has announced that they are developing a new title in their NFL Blitz franchise. This January, NFL Blitz will be back and available as a digital download on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game will be developed by EA Tiburon, the same development crew that brings you the Madden series. NBA Jam announcer Tim Kitzrow will be included this time around as well as new modes like Blitz Gauntlet and, of course Big Head mode, no cheats needed. New to the series will be full roster customization, letting you set up the teams how you see fit.

The one real cool thing about Blitz Gauntlet is the mode will include special character teams including zombies, hot dogs, Bigfoot, and lions. Its been a while since we have seen the Blitz series, so this is some great news. The last installment in the series was NFL Blitz: Pro, which was released in 2003 for Xbox, GameCube and PlayStation 2.

The new NFL Blitz will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network for $14.99 on January 3, 2012.

New Skyrim Videos Galore

There have been some new gameplay videos from Elder Scrolls newest chapter, Skyrim. The video is a live demo with Bethesda’s Todd Howard and it gives an in depth look at Bethesda’s sure to be masterpiece. The game doesn’t have that much longer to go with its November 11th release date so these videos will be sure to get you in the mood! Check them out below!

Prototype 2 Trailer

Prototype 2 has been unheard of mostly since its predecessor, Prototype came out in 2009. A little information here or there, but not much compared to most games these days. Well, Radical Entertainment and Activision have released a video today showing off the main character, Sergeant James Heller.

Heller is a man on his quest to destroy the Blacklight Virus once and for all. The story is also one of revenge, as Heller wants to kill Alex Mercer (Prototype’s protagonist) after his family was killed in the outbreak of the Blacklight Virus, blaming Mercer for their deaths. The last game had a lot of promise and only some minor errors, if it wasn’t as glitchy, it would of really stood out. Check out the trailer below, see what you think!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Update

With the November 20th release date looming, Nintendo has revealed some new details about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. First, there are two new areas known as Lake Floria and Fun Fun Island. Lake Floria will introduce the new Wii Motion Plus swimming controls as well as the interesting squid-like race, the Parella Tribe. Fun Fun Island will offer fun, I’m presuming, but “before Link can enjoy everything the island has to offer, he must find a way to fulfill the request of its lone inhabitant.”

A new whip was also revealed. The whip can be used to grab items and will help Link solve certain puzzles. Link’s items will be able to be selected in real time when he is on the ground, so you can switch between a sword and other items on a whim.

The Whip Will Be Quite The Added Bonus.

Finally, there will be an entirely new potion creation mechanic. Players will be able to collect insects from the game’s various locations. The insects will then be able to be added to potions that Link obtains, which will give them added attributes. I’m sure Nintendo will announce more details of the game in the upcoming weeks leading up to the game’s release.
