There has been word of a Tomb Raider reboot out there for a little while. Not only do we get a new rebooted video game, we also get a rebooted adaptation of the game to film. Now we hear a snippet of what we can expect to see out of the new adaptation of the video game. Graham King, the producer behind The Tourist, Rango, and The Rum Diary, picked up the rights to the film. He has received the script from Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the writers behind Iron Man, Cowboys & Aliens and the live-action adaptation of Akira. In a recent interview, King gave a little information about the script and what we may see. He makes it sound like it’s going in the same direction of a lot of movies coming out recently. Just like Christopher Nolan’s Batman, X-Men: First Class, and The Amazing Spider-Man have done, we may get a deeper look into the main character.
“We just got the script in on ‘Tomb Raider’ and it’s really good. It’s something that, for me anyway, is different, you know rebooting a franchise that I didn’t produce to begin with. But there’s something about her character and going back to her roots, and that’s what we’re doing with this. You’re actually gonna meet her before she has all her powers as Lara Croft. It’s more of a character study, but it’s a really fun, fun adventure story.”
